Testimonials

“I participated in this film festival and I was blown away! I had constant communication with festival officials. I had a wonderful time working on the short film and appreciated all of the prizes that the competition had to offer. Great festival and I plan on submitting next year.”

KIRSTY THOMAS, PRODUCER OF CULTURE CLUB, 2016

“Sorry it took awhile to write to you. We’ve been super busy putting the final post production touches on our final cut of ‘The Letter.’ Thanks to your generous prize money, we were able to get the film professionally colored and sound designed. We wanted to say thank you so much and how deeply grateful we are for the opportunity and platform you gave us to tell a story that is rarely told—through not only a female perspective, but an Asian-American perspective.

“If it wasn’t for the contest, who knows when this story would’ve been told. The festival definitely fueled our fires to keep telling these stories. We hope to continue to share this film with other festivals and communities.

“Again, thank you all who made this festival possible and awarding us the prizes. We are very honored.”

BECCA BERRY and SYDNEY VIENGLUANG, PRODUCERS OF THE LETTER, 2016

“I want to thank you so much and I am truly grateful and thrilled with the Best Actor Award, and it is my honor to be part of the festival and the film, ‘The Letter.’

“It has always been my mission to speak up for the one who cannot speak up for themselves, to tell everyone don’t give up, and keep working really hard. Ironically, before reading the script of this film, I was almost on the verge of leaving LA.

“The script of ‘The Letter’ struck me so much that I felt the connection immediately and decided no matter what I had to tell this story, to let the whole world know the fear of inadequacy, the urge to move forward by putting the past behind, and re-start over and over again. There are many stories about challenging mother-daughter relationships among immigrant families; this story I saw beyond just conflict or culture shock. I found the resolution by discovering the deep down honest voice of an immigrant mother. Her courage to transform a nightmare into a good dream, then make it comes true is inspiring and touching.

“Finally, I want to thank the Different Faces Different Voice Film Festival and the Flicks4Chicks again by creating a platform for all of the female filmmakers and actors to honor their creative works. I also want to thank my director and writer Becca Berry and producer Sydney Viengluang for giving me the chance to be with this fantastic role.”

TIFFANY JACKMAN, PRODUCER OF LOCKED, 2016

“Congratulations on making the first year of this festival so memorable and special. My favorite aspect of the festival was the ability to meet new filmmakers who were at my level, and most all of them, new to directing.”
