Harvard Square Script Writers
Harvard Square Script Writers (HSSW) is one of the oldest and most established script writing groups in the nation. Founded by producer Laura Bernieri in 1986, run until 2011 by Scott Anderson, and now under the direction of Genine Tillotson, HSSW meets weekly in Cambridge, MA during the academic year to review treatments, outlines, screenplays and teleplays.
Many of our members have won or placed in the nation’s top screenwriting contests, have seen their screenplays optioned, have gone on to work in the industry, or have produced and directed their films themselves. They range in backgrounds from professional film critics to award-winning documentarians to indie filmmakers.
Additionally, HSSW sponsors workshops – on a wide range of topics, readings, and screenings.
HSSW is dedicated to the idea that every great film, television series, webisode, short or stage play is born out of a compelling script.
We developed the international Different Faces, Different Voices Film Festival in response to the need for cinematic stories that explore the often ignored narratives in our society. The festival debuted in 2016 to rave reviews and the screening of 29 original films made in response to our Flicks4Chicks short film contest.
